Follow the lives of the Ollerenshawes and Greenhalghs as Dierdre and Mark prepare for their marriage. Could this turn out to be the Wedding from Hell? The fun begins on Mark’s stag night, which almost ends in disaster when a very drunk Mark is found chained to a lamp post, together with a blow-up rubber doll purloined from a night club. The wedding day turns out to be rather chaotic too, with half the guests (including the priest) suffering from blinding hangovers, not to mention the reappearance of the blow-up rubber doll.
First performed at the Oldham Coliseum in 1980, this is a hilariously funny, satirical portrayal of British Society, high-lighting the inter-related themes of pride, stereotypes and social status . |
