We are looking for new members who wish to get involved either on or off the stage.
MADS has been producing quality live drama in Macclesfield for over 50 years, 40 of them at the Little Theatre In Lord Street. For many years we have had a rolling active membership of around 70 people. They come from all walks of life. They all have something vital to offer to keep the society going. But 70 isn't enough. Believe it or not, we need to increase our membership by around 50%.
MADS produces 5 plays a year and auditions for the seasons plays take place throughout the year, so it's never too late to join in.
You don't have to be an expert. Enthusiasm, commitment, time and ordinary every day skills are a great start. Everyone has a hidden talent, so come to us to find it. A desire to learn and share knowledge will start you off in any section of the theatre.
Every season there are dozens of opportunities for you to become involved with every aspect of the theatre including;directing, acting, backstage, bar, box office, front-of-house, lighting, sound, prompt, properties, publicity, set design and building, social events, stage management, wardrobe and much more.
The other benefit of being a part of MADS is the social side. We regularly hold nights out including theatre and cinema trips, members-only nights and frequent nights out including meals and (sometimes) pub crawls! Because at MADS we operate as an extended family, solid friendships have been developed among our members, and some have even met their future wives and partners through MADS membership, so be prepared to extend your social circle!
If you are over 16 and would like to know more about what it takes to put on a live play, we'd love to hear from you. If you have any skills which might be applied to any of the sections listed above we would be particularly pleased to welcome you as a member.
Annual membership fees for MADS are £20 per year for adults and £10 for juniors (16-18's).
Or if you prefer to dive straight in at the deep end and come to see for yourself what MADS have to offer, please come along to our Club Night every Thursday between 8.00pm & 11.00pm (not including production weeks and all Thursdays in July and August) where you will have the chance to meet other members, sit in on rehearsals and tour the theatre. Refreshments are available and the bar is open from 9.30pm. You will be made most welcome. |
